Infrastructure Manager – Modern Workplace – London (gherkin) – Hybrid remote

#TeamCandour are working with a true global leader as they undertake a huge technology transformation project across their entire estate to secure a Senior Manager to look after their Infrastructure Services & shift to modern workplace practices to work out of their Central London offices on a hybrid remote basis.

And what will you be doing?

 

This role is responsible for ensuring that the infrastructure & engineering services offered across the business are fit for purpose. By taking an end-to-end view of the underlying technologies and processes, the successful candidate will ensure that the organisation hit the right balance between quality and cost whilst maintaining the ability to operate them effectively.

 

This is an extremely varied role and will include (but is not limited to) the following activities:

 

  • Accountable for our server and storage infrastructure, virtual desktop infrastructure (persistent and non-persistent desktops), application delivery and laptop estates ensuring estate is operationally fit for purpose with security, performance & resiliency at the forefront of all decisions.

 

  • Line management of the IT Services Modern Workplace & Virtualisation engineers.

 

  • Be the Chapter Lead for Modern Workplace & Virtualisation within IT Services, sharing knowledge and best practices, acting in an advisory capacity to other Business Unit technology teams that need your guidance.

 

  • Create and maintain technology roadmaps for your area, aligning to the agreed wider IT strategy and architecture principles.

 

  • Collaborate with Group Procurement and Vendor Management teams on renewals and partner relationships.

 

  • Work with the wider architecture communities such as Enterprise Architecture team, Architecture Review Board.

 

  • Translate requirements and architecture into work packages.

 

  • Manage infrastructure policies and standards, including effective capacity planning.

 

  • Review and approve infrastructure designs including designing complex solutions on occasion.

 

  • Build relationships with primary consumers of the services to elicit future requirements.

 

  • Offer technical advice or implementation help around the usage of the services and capabilities you have responsibility for.

 

And what skills will you need to bring?

 

  • Essential technical: Enterprise datacentre server hardware including HCI and FC SAN technologies, VMware vSphere, Microsoft Windows Server/Client operating systems, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, FSLogix, Microsoft Intune, Application Packaging tools and techniques, Commvault Backup, Pure storage, client technologies including Microsoft 365 E5.

 

  • Advantageous technical: HPE hardware (BladeSystem, Synergy and SimpliVity), Brocade FC switches, SolarWinds, Turbonomic, Red Hat Linux, Altiris, Zerto Continuous Data Protection, Microsoft Azure, PowerShell, IGEL Thin Clients.

 

  • Be adept at building business cases and selling these to senior stakeholders.

 

  • A skilled communicator, who proactively collaborates to share knowledge and explore ideas.

 

  • Significant line management experience, including the growth and development of engineers.

 

  • An influencer who can articulate arguments well and is comfortable working with a wide range of people from different areas of the business.
